Lightening & Air Quality Policies

Air Quality and Lightning Policy

Cancelling soccer due to lightning is always tricky. The weather can change so quickly in the valley. Some days that seem miserable and parents are waiting to hear if soccer is cancelled can turn out to be beautiful evenings, while some beautiful days can quickly take a turn for the worse.

Here is a quick summary of our policies:

  • If you see lightning or hear thunder, seek proper shelter and wait thirty (30) minutes or more after hearing the last thunder before leaving the shelter.

FYSA administrator will decide whether games are cancelled by following the BC Soccer Lightning Safety Policy and the AQHI. Game cancellations will be communicated via RAMP email and FaceBook post at 5pm on the day of practice.
