Development League

Fernie United - Development Program

FYSA offers two types of programs:
House - A Fernie league during the months of May and June for ages U4 and up (pending player registrations).

Development - Offered for U10 and up, development soccer provides additional sessions during May and June on top of House and also often continues through the summer/fall and moves indoors during the winter.

Development soccer is for the players that want to play more soccer than what our House league provides and players that want to develop their skills to compete at higher levels such as at out-of-town tournaments. The following attributes are a successful combination for development soccer:

Interest - These players typically want to play a lot of soccer and enjoy a competitive atmosphere.
Coachability - They listen closely, can follow directions and are looking for feedback on how to improve their skills.
Effort - They come to every practice and game ready to work their hardest, regardless of the drill or score.

As part of the development program, our teams travel to tournaments in the Kootenays and Southern Alberta. Fernie United, our development program, provides home and away jerseys at games/tournaments, which are distributed at the match and are returned at the end of the game/tournament. Players are required to have black shorts and socks as part of the uniform.

Teams have a certain number of players required to roster at tournaments which vary by season (Indoor & Outdoor). Please anticipate that if there are the required number of players listed on the registered team roster, the the team will be attending the tournament that all registered players will attend the above mandatory tournments.

District teams may attend different tournaments than those listed above.
